PLEASE NOTE: THE PUBLISHED DATE IS POST-DATED TO REFLECT THE RELEASE OF THE PODCAST AS THE BLOG WAS STARTED AFTERWARDS*
The first podcast was released on the 11th May 2024, and I spoke to Amy who has written a blog post called ‘Tinks Tales’. Amy’s very personal post highlights the issues that she had with a ‘Septate Hymen’ after she struggled to insert a tampon.
Now, as we know, some women do struggle to insert a tampon for many reasons and some (like myself) just find them really uncomfortable and that’s a good enough reason to not use one!! However, not only could Amy not insert a tampon - she couldn’t insert even a cotton bud without extreme pain.
If you haven’t already listened to the podcast click on the link above or equally, you can find it on both apple and Spotify podcast platforms, and give it a listen and let me know your thoughts in the comments or via the contact form.
Now, I am not a health professional, I’m just a normal everyday northern lass, who feels that the topic of women’s is highly important, and isn’t something that should be ignored, dismissed or embarrassing. So that being said, as part of my research before I met up with Amy I wanted to gather some further knowledge of the condition and I have included some brief information below (credit source: my.clevelandclinic).
So, What is a Septate Hymen?
I had never even heard of a Septate Hymen until I researched it for this podcast and while it’s not a common condition, it does happen more often than you may think, and as Amy mentions on the show, there is only something like 25 documented cases, so clearly more research needs to be done.
